Surrendering to the Now

I have finally read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It’s a great read and it has been constantly on my mind. Eckart Tolle summarized beautifully many of the things I have become aware of in meditation or with plant medicine.

Most of us seek happiness from the pleasures of material wealth, validation, security, power over others or even love. I have been there and working hard on myself.

Our constructed image on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter is a projection of what we think we are through our ego. But that’s not who we are.

I am not my thoughts. I am not my mind. There is only one reality — the present.

Descartes coined “I think therefore I am”. Eckhart Tolle teaches us the opposite — “the present moment holds the key to liberation. You cannot find the present moment as long as you are your mind.” It’s all about finding space, silence and inner peace whatever happens.

“The key is to be in a state of permanent connectedness with your inner body — to feel it at all time. Offer no resistance to life — allow life to live through you”

This resonated so much that I have read another book just on this topic: The surrender Experiment by Michael Singer. It’s the story of a monk that ends-up leading a software business with thousands of employees just by following the flow of events and people nature brings him. He did not make much decisions and just trusted anything that happened randomly.

It seems very extreme and I don’t think I can do that but it’s inspiring.

Each time any stressful situation shows up there is no need to be upset with something not under your control. Nature is perfect and everything happens for a reason. Even broken planes next time your plane is late. It’s very liberating to think this way.

I have practiced this surrender to the flow of nature recently just going through whatever the present brings. If there is anything negative and painful it was meant to be and it’s an opportunity for me to grow. My stress has been greatly reduced by just accepting what is.

It doesn’t mean “doing nothing” it means complaining less, accepting more and being “in flow”.

I hope you are also doing fantastic by enjoying anything happening right now.
